Over the last few years, there has been a significant amount of investment in Bacup and this has been great for Bacup business.
Bacup Business Is Booming
Due to the amount of development, there are loads of new businesses moving into Bacup town centre and the once boarded shops in the town centre are now busy with new businesses.
Hope for Bacup’s future
Following on from the success of the £2million Bacup THI scheme (Townscape Heritage Initiative) Rossendale Council has announced it aims to further enhance the cultural, trade and visual appeal of Bacup by submitting a bid for £1.1 million from Historic England’s High Street Heritage Action Zone fund.
Portfolio holder for regeneration and economic development, Cllr Jackie Oakes, said: “Bacup has seen six new businesses establish themselves in the town centre, either as a direct result of the THI or due to the on-going restoration works there, and so the time is right to build on that success.”
“We are very excited about the opportunities that the Heritage Action Zone could bring to Bacup and the positive social and economic impact it could have.”
The Heritage Action Zone will focus on the areas of the town that the THI project didn’t focus on, such as the Regal Bingo Hall.
